Locked in by the Garage Door Opener

I started the day planning to get to work early but ended being the latest all I have ever been…all thanks to my pesky garage door opener. Normally I help with the school run for the kids that are on my way but on this Tuesday I had an important appointment with my boss so I asked my wife to cover it. She was kind enough to get up early and help me with the breakfast. Anyway I drove off as normal and then remembered that I had left all my files on the kitchen table. It was too far away to go back and make it on time so I called my wife to see whether she could get the files for me. She had already left so that was a dead end anyway. I then turned to my boss and asked for a forty minute extension. He graciously agreed.

Stuck in the garage by an opener

I got all my stuff from the kitchen table and locked the door behind me after I entered the garage. When I pressed the opener button on my remote, the garage door refused to budge. Here I was losing time and probably getting fired in the process. I had not bothered to read the manual properly so I did not even know how to switch off the electrics. In vain I searched for the manual in the car but it was not there. I decided to go back inside the house but it was locked inside and would you believe it…I had dropped the key in the kitchen. The long and short of it was that I was stuck in between the kitchen and the garage door. I called my wife and boss once more.

My wife came in but she did not know how to really operate the electrics so we had to get the guys from garage door repair Houston. To my annoyance the guy quickly flipped a button and the door opened. By this time the appointment with my boss had been cancelled so there was no point in using the front door either. Anyway the chap from the contractor talked me through all the controls. I now know that opening that door should not have been a problem if I had taken a few minutes to look at the manual. The remote receiver was slightly obscured and that is why it failed to work. The contractor resolved it. Thankfully my boss saw the funny side of the story.
